Participating in Small Business Saturday can open the door to a lot of good things for your pharmacy. Here's how to get started.
We Made a List. Now All You Have to Do Is Check It Twice!
'Tis the season to be jolly...and prepared! Here's our short list to help get your pharmacy ready for the holidays.
Whether there’s a chill in the air, snow on the ground, or sun in the sky there’s no doubt that the season of giving is upon us. And with a pharmacy front end that’s big, small, or somewhere in between, there’s certainly some optimizing to be done to help your pharmacy see some increased profits during the last month of the year.
To help you out, we made a list of holiday season to dos. This might seem a bit last minute, but never fear, most of the things on this list are super quick and crazy-easy. All you need to do is check that your pharmacy is ready to go in these key areas. Although maybe in the spirit of the season… you should check the list twice!
Get on Pointy
Online presence is so important for any business right now. Yes, even for brick-and-mortar locations with no eCommerce. This is because an overwhelming percentage of shoppers will search online for local products, businesses, and services before going to a store in person. Pointy from Google makes it easier for customers to find your pharmacy by uploading products you carry to your Google My Business Page. That way, when a customer is looking locally for something like crutches or a specific brand of shampoo that you happen to carry, they’ll find your pharmacy in their online search and come in to complete their purchase. This is a service that’s free if you have a point-of-sale system integrated with Pointy (like RMS!) and takes just minutes to sign up with no ongoing maintenance or work on your part. You could sign up today and have your products start uploading immediately.
Make sure you’re set for Small Business Saturday success.
Small Business Saturday promotes and drives shopping in small businesses every year on the day after Black Friday. Make sure you’re ready to go for Small Business Saturday with these tips. Even a quick email or social post could help drive a few more shoppers to your store.
Set up your holiday promos.
Speaking of Small Business Saturday.. get ahead and set up your promotions through the remainder of the season. Check out this 15 minute video on how easy it is to set up promotions and check this to do off your list for the year!
Set up charitable giving.
It’s not just the season of giving. It’s the season of charitable giving. You can partner with a local organization and serve as a donation drop off site or you can set up a checkout charity program so that customers can easily donate during the checkout process.
Get your pharmacy on a digital gifting platform.
Don’t worry, this sounds way more complicated than it really is thanks to a new platform called GiftYa. GiftYa allows a sender to purchase a digital gift card online at participating retailers (like your pharmacy) and send it real time with a customized video message via text. We know it sounds a bit out there, but we think this platform might just gain some big traction in the gift card market and want to make sure every pharmacy can get on board. It’s 100% free for retailers and any pharmacy can participate, not just RMS customers, as there is no integration required. Enrolling just takes a few minutes and a couple of days later you’ll be listed as a GiftYa merchant when people search the platform in your area. This is great for last minute gifting that will take place later in December and it’s a great option to have all year round.
Hopefully this list helps you to have a happy, crazy-easy, and crazy-profitable holiday season!
