POS

Did you know...you should be backing up your POS database to an external or network drive?

It is imperative that you keep a nightly backup of your data on an external drive or network drive that is located outside of your location to ensure quick recovery if your hard drive crashes.

Each night your Master Server creates a backup file called cp.zip which is stored on the local drive. You can see the path to that backup in the field labeled Backup Source in the screenshot below.

We have recently noticed that some customers are not copying this backup to a network or external drive which means if that hard drive crashes, there is likely no backup available. RMS never has a backup of your data, so it is imperative that you keep a backup of your data on an external drive (like a USB drive) or a network drive that is located outside of your location.
