PCI DSS Compliance
PCI DSS stands for Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data
Security Standard (DSS). It was developed by the major credit card companies as a guideline to
help merchants that process card payments prevent credit card fraud, hacking and various other
security issues. Merchants processing, storing, or transmitting credit card numbers must be PCI
DSS compliant or risk losing the ability to process credit card payments. Merchants must validate
compliance with their card processor by completing a PCI Self-Assessment questionnaire annually.
Using a POS system that is PABP compliant is an integral part of ensuring PCI DSS compliance.
